Dr. med. univ. Runa Rahman-Oshiga is a physician for general medicine with international training and a special focus on integrative medicine, functional medicine, and modern neuromodulation. Her medical approach combines solid clinical experience with a holistic view of the individual.
She completed her medical studies at the Medical University of Vienna, graduating in 2007. She then moved to the United Kingdom, where she continued her clinical training and completed her specialization in general medicine. In 2014 she obtained the title of MRCGP (Member of the Royal College of General Practitioners).

Clinical Experience and International Training
United Kingdom, Vienna
After several years of medical practice in the United Kingdom, Dr. Rahman-Oshiga returned to Vienna in 2015. There she initially worked as a locum physician in a general practice, before becoming a ward physician at the Haus der Barmherzigkeit.
During this time she gained extensive experience in geriatrics and gerontopsychiatry. Caring for severely ill patients and their families shaped her medical approach lastingly and deepened her understanding of the complex physical and emotional dimensions of illness.
Integrative and Functional Medicine
Over the course of her professional development, Dr. Rahman-Oshiga became increasingly aware that many chronic conditions are often inadequately treated with purely symptom-oriented therapies.
She therefore began to engage intensively with functional medicine – an approach that focuses on the root causes of complex diseases and the interactions between different body systems.
Her particular areas of interest include, among others:
- Gut health and the microbiome
- Environmental and toxin exposure
- Immune system and chronic inflammatory processes
- Chronic infections
- Systemic connections in complex diseases
Specialization in Palliative Medicin
A particular focus of her medical work developed in palliative medicine. Dr. Rahman-Oshiga completed several specialized diploma courses in this field.
She subsequently worked at the CS Hospiz Rennweg, both on the palliative care ward and with the mobile palliative care team, where she supported patients and their families through very sensitive stages of life.
This work has significantly shaped her approach to medicine: for her, the person behind the diagnosis always remains the focus.
Focus on Neuromodulation
Another central focus of her work is neuromodulation – an innovative medical field that specifically supports the regulation of the nervous system and can promote neuroplastic processes.
Dr. Rahman-Oshiga has been a SOZO Fellow for Neuromodulation since 2024 and is currently also completing a master's course in neuromodulation.
These methods open up new therapeutic possibilities, particularly for chronic neurological and functional disorders.

From her international training and clinical experience, Dr. Rahman-Oshiga has developed an individual treatment approach that combines several modern forms of therapy.
